comment on the possible impact on its business of the pending takeover of Golden
Vale by the Kerry Group.
Golden Vale is one
of the largest suppliers to the Irish Dairy Board and its loss as a supplier
would be felt keenly. Kerry Group has
followed a strategy of developing its own dairy products and does not sell
through the Dairy Board.
On Monday, Kerry
announced it had received the backing of the Golden Vale board for its bid,
which values Golden Vale at a total of £198m, or euro 1.50 a share plus 4 in

Kerry, for the manufacture of milk protein (casein) for export to the U.S.A.
