1) Isn't this handbook really a one- size-fits-all approach since it says "healing is healing" regardless of the addiction?
No. It provides many possible strategies and tactics.
2) Won't accepting the Random Relapse/ Recovery Cycle Theory cause me to drink by giving me an excuse?
No. Excuses don't cause you to do anything. They are just reasons to explain relapse.
3) What is the difference between "addiction" and "dependence"?
Very little. They both signify anything you overdo.
4) Which is the most addictive drugs?
Alcohol and Nicotine.
5) How many people have been helped by this handbook?
What does it matter? Whether one or a million, you still have to do the things in this handbook in order to find out if it works for you.
6) How do you know that I can heal and recover on my own without professional
help?
There have been many studies that have found that MOST people quit on their
own or with the help of family and friends. A Gallup poll in 1990 found
that less than 10% of those polled utilized professional help or groups
to make significant changes in their lives.
7) Aren't cigarettes and alcohol the most popular because they are the most available?
No, they are the most available because they are the most in demand. They are the most in demand because they are the most addictive.
